Development of electric injection molding machine for small-pitch connectors
September 20, 2000 [News Release]

Nissei Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd. has newly developed an electric injection molding machine, "ES-connector Series," for small-pitch connectors with a view to expanding the applications of electric molding machines that are selling well currently. Orders will be received on a regular basis late in September.
In the field of mobile telephones and other equipment, as well as AV equipment, competition is continuing to make them highly-functional, compact, and lightweight. Accordingly, connectors are demanded to be small and thin.
In order to meet such needs of users, Nissei has developed two precision stable molding machines - "ES200connector" with a mold clamping force of 20 tons (196 kN) and "ES400connector" with a mold clamping force of 40 tons (394 kN) - which are to be used exclusively for connectors and other fine parts.
Major resin used for making small-pitch connectors is liquid crystal polymer featured by high fluidity, high heat resistance, low warpage, and quick solidification speed. The quantity of material required for one shot is as small as approx. 1 g.
How to reach the preset speed is important to effectively fill up cavities by high-speed injection during a small-quantity molding process used for making small-pitch connectors, etc. Therefore, the dedicated machine with the injection speed of 300 mm/sec and injection start-up time of 0.02 second ensures quickest response in this class.
A driving servomotor is directly coupled with the ball screw for the injection mechanism and mold clamping mechanism, and this center drive system materializes quick response for each action.
