Nissei to Exhibit at Two Exhibitions in China
June 2005 [News Release]


Nissei Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd., aiming for increased sales of injection molding machines in the Chinese market, will exhibit at the two exhibitions; "Chinaplas 2005" and "AP Plas 2005" to be held in China.

Nissei will exhibit the following machine models at the exhibitions.

"Chinaplas 2005"
This exhibition will be held from June 21st through 24th at the Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center in Guangzhou City. Nissei exhibits the following three machines; an electric injection molding machine "ELJECT NEX4000," a new electric two-color/dissimilar material injection molding machine "ELJECT DCE140," and a hydraulic small-sized precision injection molding machine "PNX40."

The Japanese automobile and parts manufacturers, in addition OA equipment makers have already advanced into Guangzhou City and its outskirts, the South China region, which has become an important market for molding machines. Therefore, Nissei is aiming for becoming more high-profile company and increased sales.

1. Electric injection molding machine "ELJECT NEX4000"
This machine has a mold clamping force of 180 tons (1765kN). At the exhibition hall, in keeping with the theme of "the improvement of durability of the injection unit in high-cycle molding," and using "a liquid lubrication type ball screw" for the injection shaft, it demonstrates high-cycle molding of cups in six cavities in 3.5 seconds per one shot. It also publicizes high-durability of the injection shaft, low-vibration and low-noise operation.

Main features in the mechanism:
1. In addition to the standard and high-speed specifications for the injection speed, new high-load specifications (optional) are prepared corresponding to optical thick-wall and other products.
2. It is mounted with a new high efficiency mold protection function. It achieves the "ultra high-speed reaction" which instantly start mold opening action upon detecting foreign substances in a mold during mold clamping. It prevents a mold from breakage. Its foreign substance detection time is 0.013 seconds a 1/10 of conventional machines.
3. Its injection shaft, which is apt to get a load, is equipped with a newly developed "liquid lubrication type ball screw" (injection type of more than 36E), and achieves the maintenance of the injection shaft precision and high-durability over a long period. Its durability is improved more than double of conventional machines.
4. Electricity consumption is further reduced than conventional machines.
5. It is equipped with a new mold clamping system "Flat Clamp" which is ideal for high-cycle and precision molding. Based on the structural analysis, and by means of a movable platen newly designed and a stationary platen supported at the center, it demonstrates uniform mold clamping force with less deflection.
6. For the prevention of carbonization and deterioration of resin in a nozzle, it is mounted with a simultaneous heating function for nozzle and heating cylinder temperature.
7. The time from mold clamping to take-out of molded products (dry-cycle) is shortened by maximum 35% as against conventional machines.
8. Machine vibration at mold opening/closing is decreased 20% compared with conventional machines.

The dedicated controller "TACT" is of a man-machine-interface type for which 12.1 inch color liquid crystal screen (with a tilt-mechanism) is equipped. It is capable of setting a free screen angle to fit the height of an operator.
Main features of the functions:
1. The fastest injection scanning time of 100 microseconds (1/10,000 second).
2. Various control programs required for molding such as holding pressure position control and clamping compression are equipped as standard.
3. Six languages of Chinese, Japanese, English, Korean, Thai and Spanish are equipped as standard. They are easily switched by one-touch. It can be effectively utilized for the global development of molding plants.
4. The display function of "the operation record of 1,000 items" is effective for overseas plant management.
5. The ladder programming function is accessible to customers. (delivery of signals to simple peripheral equipment can be done at a job site.)
6. A LAN connecter and a USB connecter are equipped as standard. Quality and operation analyses at a plant become possible by connecting a new quality and production management system, the "PQ Manager" (optional), with LAN. It is also endowed with a function capable of remote monitoring of overseas plants (optional).
7. It is capable of internally memorizing up to 300 molding conditions.

2. Electric two-color/dissimilar material injection molding machine "ELJECT DCE140"
This is a newly developed electric two-color/dissimilar material molding machine with a mold clamping force of 140 tons (1370 kN). This time is the debut of the machine.
At the exhibition hall, it demonstrates one set molding of swimming goggles using PC and TPE resins.

The biggest feature of this machine is the mounting of a new mold clamping mechanism "Double Flat Clamp."
The "Double Flat Clamp," into which the idea of the 2-piston direct pressure mold clamping mechanism of the hydraulic DC machines is incorporated. It is a new toggle mold clamping system like direct pressure developed for electric machines use, permitting ideal transmission of clamping force to two sides of a mold. Moreover, it is very effective for the products of which projected area of the primary and secondary sides of a mold is imbalanced.
Furthermore, a high torque servomotor is adopted for the rotating mechanism, permitting high-speed rotation (rotation time: 0.9 seconds at installation of two sides of a 250 kg mold) and shockless mold rotating operations.

This machine is mounted with an injection mechanism of the NEX series, which have acquired a good reputation from customers as a precision molding use. It is mounted with the leading-edge controller for electric molding machine use "TACT."

3. Hydraulic small-sized precision injection molding machine "PNX40"
This is a small-sized precision molding machine with a mold clamping force of 40 tons (392kN). Against a background of growing worldwide demand for environmental load reduction, it has been developed as a hydraulic molding machine that demonstrates equivalent energy-saving (electricity-saving) effect to electric molding machines.
At the exhibition hall, it demonstrates molding of 4-pin connecters in 12 cavities.

As a driving source of the hydraulic pump system of this machine, a servomotor is adopted instead of an induction type electric motor until now. This is a molding machine with a new system to drive its motor only when it is necessary (to stop when it is unnecessary) for operation by controlling the number of revolutions. It has achieved epoch-making energy-saving effect (reduction of about 40% compared with our company's hydraulic machines) that has not been achieved by hydraulic machines up to now.

In addition to the big feature of "the ultimate energy-savings," this machine has great many features, which combine advantages of both hydraulic and electric machines.
1. Low noise
Almost equivalent to electric machines owing to servomotor driving.
2. Wide range injection speed
Injection speed has a wide range from 1 mm/s to 300 mm/s that is almost equal to electric machines. Its start-up response is also equivalent to 50 milliseconds. Moreover, it permits of controlling the extremely low speed area of lower than 10 mm/s, which has been regarded as difficult to control by hydraulic machines.
3. Injection holding pressure control
Since it is capable of keeping high holding pressure for a long time, it displays its greatest force in molding thick-wall products such as lenses.
4. Direct pressure mold clamping mechanism
This direct pressure mold clamping mechanism is effective for maintaining long time precision of the mold clamping mechanism, extending the service life of a mold, setting the most appropriate mold clamping force, and molding deep-bottomed products.
5. Reduction of hydraulic oil
Owing to its little energy-loss, it reduced about 55% of hydraulic oil compared with conventional hydraulic machines.
6. It is of lower cost than electric molding machines.


"AP PLAS 2005"
The exhibition will be held from July 13th through 16th at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Shanghai City. Nissei exhibits the following two machines; an electric small-sized injection molding machine "ELJECT NEX150" and a new electric two-color/dissimilar material injection molding machine "ELJECT DCE140."

In the Shanghai area, the largest market in China, Nissei exhibits the small-sized electric machine and the two-color/dissimilar material molding machine, aiming for penetration of the Nissei brand.

1. Electric small-sized precision injection molding machine "ELJECT NEX150"
This molding machine has a mold clamping force of 15 tons (147kN). It is developed for micro molding use that is our company's forte. The machine is intended for molding small-volume precision parts of 0.1 gram per one shot and above, using engineering plastics as main molding materials. At the exhibition hall, it demonstrates high-cycle molding of narrow-pitch connecters in four cavities as a representative micro molding product.
Especially, the high speed precision control with the quickest class injection scanning time of 100 microseconds (1/10,000 second), which is the greatest feature of the dedicated controller "TACT," displays its greatest force in the small volume micro molding.

Besides, the machine is furnished with the functions for micro molding use.
Injection mechanism
1. The injection driving servomotor is of a belt drive system corresponding to intended molded products. Selection of a center drive system is possible as an option. Injection speed is 330 mm/s for the belt drive system and 500 mm/s for the center drive system, both systems have highly responsible injection start-up speed. Especially, the center drive system permits the quickest injection start-up and the fastest injection speed in the industry.
2. To fit the engineering plastics use, the most suitable screw design is applied for precision measuring and high cycle specifications.
3. The most appropriate temperature control is adopted including a hopper throat and a nozzle.
4. Selection of the most appropriate connecter nozzle is possible in line with types and grades of molding materials.
5. A pulling method of two nozzle touches is adopted to maintain the most suitable parallel degrees.

Clamping mechanism
1. New mold clamping mechanism "Flat Clamp," ideal for high-cycle and precision molding: Based on the structural analysis, and by means of a movable platen of an innovative design and a stationary platen supported at the center, it offers rigidity equivalent to the mold clamping force of 20 tons machine level. It provides uniform mold clamping force with less deflection.
2. The tie bar distance is as wide as 260 x 260 mm that enables mounting of a mold with a mold clamping force of 20 tons.
3. A mold clamping toggle is operated in shockless high-cycle with a new 5 point link.
4. New mold protection function: The "ultra high speed reaction operation" has been achieved, which reacts and opens the mold immediately after the sensing element detects any foreign matter during mold clamping. Mold damage can be prevented from happening.

Moreover, this machine is designed compactly with stiff bed. Mounting mold surveillance system with infrared rays is possible as a first trial in the industry. The function to control and confirm the product left behind in the machine can be shown on the same screen on the controller "TACT".

2. Electric two-color/dissimilar material injection molding machine "ELJECT DCE140"
This is a newly developed electric two-color/dissimilar material molding machine with a mold clamping force of 140 tons (1370kN).
At the exhibition hall, it demonstrates molding of coasters, using HIPS resin and thermoplastic elastomers.

The biggest feature of this machine is the mounting of a new mold clamping mechanism "Double Flat Clamp."
The "Double Flat Clamp," into which the idea of the 2-piston direct pressure mold clamping mechanism of the hydraulic DC machine is incorporated. It is a new toggle mold clamping system like direct pressure developed for electric machine use, permitting ideal transmission of clamping force to two sides of a mold. An injection mechanism of the NEX series, which has already acquired a favorable reputation from customers as a precision molding use, is mounted on this machine. Also the most up-to-date controller for electric machine use "TACT" is loaded.
