FNX Series Debuts as Electric-Hydraulic Amalgamation - 4 New Machines Based on New Hybrid Concept
Nissei Plastic Industrial has, recently developed four new machines that comprise the FNX Series as hybrid precision injection molding machines on a new concept that combines the advantages of electric and hybrid types. They will be shown for the first time at the NPE 2006 show in Chicago.
The newly developed FNX Series comprises four machine types and eight models - the FNX80-9A and FNX80-12A machines with clamping force of 784 kN (80 tons), the FNX110-18A and FNX110-25A with clamping force of 1,078 kN (110 tons, the FNX140-25A and FNX140-36A with clamping force of 1,372 kN (140 tons), and the FNX180-36A and FNX180-50A with clamping force of 1,764 kN (180 tons).
Nissei Plastic Industrial will exhibit and demonstrate a 1,372-kN (140-ton) machine - the FNX140-25A - at NPE 2006.
As with the PNX Series debuted in September last year, the FNX Series adopts Nissei's X Pump System.
The X Pump System is a hybrid pump based on a new concept that combines servomotor drive technology and hydraulic drive technology as the driving source for the molding machine. By controlling the rotation of the servomotor, the motor provides driving power only when required (it stops when not required), and this drive format is the major attribute of the FNX Series.
As a result, approximately 30% energy savings can be realized compared with Nissei's hydraulic machines, which is a similar energy conservation effect to all-electric machines. Furthermore, through adopting Nissei's own direct clamping mechanism, reproducible molding is realized.
In addition, the following performance improvements have been realized.

Ramp-up time of 45 ms (0.045 s) represents a high response on a par with all-electric machines. |

Injection speed can be controlled over a wide range from the ultra-low range of 1 mm/s up to a maximum of 300 mm/s, and injection speed is up to double that of Nissei's hydraulic machines. |

Compared with Nissei's hydraulic machines, the variation in molded product weight has been reduced to one-third, and reproducibility has been improved. |

Because energy loss is minimal, compared with Nissei's hydraulic machines, up to a 41% reduction in hydraulic oil has been achieved. |

Through employing servomotor drive, almost the same low noise operation as all-electrics is achieved. |

Machine pricing is lower than all-electric molding machines. |
Furthermore, the clamping mechanism adopted is the same direct clamping type that is employed in hydraulic FN series, of which Nissei has sold in excess of 10,000 units.

The dedicate TACT controller is a man-machine interface that employs a 12.1-inch color liquid crystal display, and it features a tilt mechanism whereby the viewing angle can be changed to match the height of the operator.
