Three of the Latest Hybrid Molding Machines on Show at "8th China Dongguan International Plastics, Packaging & Rubber Exhibition"
| October 2006 [News Release] |
Nissei Plastic Industrial will exhibit three of its latest hybrid injection molding machines - the PNX60, the FNX110, and the FNX180 - at the "8th China Dongguan International Plastics, Packaging & Rubber Exhibition" to be held in the city of Dongguan, Guangdong Province, China November 8-11, 2006.
The companies from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea, who produces IT products such as cellular telephones and personal computers are concentrated in Guangdong Province.
Furthermore, the province is also home to a concentration of leading local Chinese molders. For these reasons, demand for injection molding machines has been increasing rapidly in recent years and Nissei Plastic Industrial is exhibiting at the show with the objective of further increasing sales.
The three hybrid injection molding machines that Nissei Plastic Industrial will exhibit this time have been developed through fusion of the newly developed X Pump System that realizes ultimate energy savings with the advantages (mechanical characteristics, molding characteristics) of both hydraulic and electric machines.
The key attribute of the hybrid molding machine is "hybridization" by way of adoption of the X Pump System, which combines servomotor drive technology and hydraulic drive technology as the driving sources for the molding machine. By controlling the servomotor rotational speed, the motor provides drive only when it is required (it is stationary when not required) and as a result, it achieves significant energy savings on a par with all-electrics.
Outline of the Machines to be Exhibited
1. Hybrid compact injection molding machine PNX60-5A
This machine is a 641 kN (65 tons) clamping force type that is part of the hybrid compact injection molding machine PNX Series.
At the exhibition, molding of SD memory cards that are employed as recording media for digital cameras and portable music players will be demonstrated.
Besides the main characteristic of ultimate energy savings, this series possesses various other characteristics that combine the advantages of hydraulic machines and electric machines.
| 1. |
Low noise.
Almost the same low noise as electric machines through adoption of servomotor drives. |
| 2. |
Wide range of injection speeds.
Injection speed is available over a wide range from an ultra-low speed of 1 mm/s up to a high speed of 300 mm/s, while injection set-up time is only 0.05 s, representing high response. |
| 3. |
Injection holding pressure control.
Because a high injection holding pressure can be maintained for an extended period, the series can display its power for molding of thick products such as lenses. |
| 4. |
Reduced hydraulic oil volume.
Because energy loss is low, the oil volume used has been reduced by about 55% compared with existing hydraulic machines. |
| 5. |
Almost no water is required for hydraulic oil cooling. |
| 6. |
Machines are priced lower than all-electric machines. |
In addition, a new flat clamp direct clamping mechanism is employed as the clamping mechanism.
The main features are:
| 1. |
A more uniform transmission of precise clamping force to the mold. |
| 2. |
A low (appropriate) setting of clamping force is readily accomplished, and this is an effective measure for saving energy, prolonging the life of the machine and mold, and reducing rejects caused by degassing and short shots. |
| 3. |
Long-term maintaining of clamping platen parallelism. |
| 4. |
Effective for thick molds (molding of thick parts, hot runners, three plate). |
| 5. |
Shorter time required for changing molds for production of multiple batches in small lot sizes. |
The dedicated TACT controller is a man-machine interface that employs a 12.1-inch color liquid crystal display that incorporates a tilt mechanism enabling adjustment of the screen angle to match operator height.
2. FNX Series medium-size hybrid injection molding machines
At the show, two FNX Series machines with clamping forces of 1,078 kN (110 tons) - the FNX110-18A - and 1,764 kN (180 tons) - the FNX180-36A - will be exhibited.
The FNX110 will be demonstrating molding of a light guided plate, while the FNX180 will demonstrate molding of a utility case.
The FNX Series can realize approximately 30% energy savings compared with Nissei's hydraulic machines, which is a similar energy consumption effect to all-electric machines. Furthermore, through adopting Nissei's own direct clamping mechanism, stable molding is realized.
In addition, the following performance improvements have been realized.
| 1. |
Injection set-up time features a high response on a par with all-electric machines. |
| 2. |
Stable injection speed control of 1 mm/s can be achieved in the ultra-low speed region, and injection speed accelerated by up to 1.5-times that of Nissei's hydraulic machines has been achieved. |
| 3. |
Because of energy loss is minimal, compared with Nissei's hydraulic machines, up to a maximum 36% reduction of hydraulic oil has been achieved. |
| 4. |
Through employing servomotor drive, almost the same low noise operation as all-electrics is achieved. |
| 5. |
Machine pricing is lower than all-electric molding machines. |
In addition, the clamping mechanism adopted is the same direct clamping type that is employed in hydraulic FN series, of which Nissei has sold in excess of 10,000 units.
The major characteristics are:
| 1. |
An accurate clamping force is distributed more uniformly to the mold. |
| 2. |
Low (appropriate) setting of clamping force is easily possible, and this is effective in terms of saving energy, prolonging the life of the molding machine and molds, and countering defects caused by de-gassing and short shots, etc. |
| 3. |
Long-term maintaining of clamping platen parallelism. |
| 4. |
Effective for thick molds (thick product molding, hot runners, three plate). |
| 5. |
Shortening of mold change time for production of multiple small lots. |
The dedicated TACT controller is a man-machine interface that employs a 12.1-inch color liquid crystal display that incorporates a tilt mechanism enabling adjustment of the screen angle to match operator height.
