Debut of three Mid-size Injection Molding Machines in Hybrid FNX Series

Nissei Plastic Industrial has recently released three new mid-size injection molding machines as part of the Hybrid FNX series that combines the advantages of electric and hydraulic types.
Nissei has been accepting orders for the machines since this February.
The new mid-size machines joining the FNX Series line-up comprise three machine types and six models: the 2,110 kN (220 ton) "FNX220-50A" and "FNX220-71A", the 2,740 kN (280 ton) "FNX280-71A" and "FNX280-100A", and the 3,540 kN (360 ton) "FNX360-100A" and "FNX360-140A".

This hybrid injection molding machine has recently received the "Director General of the Agency of Natural Resources and Energy Award", which was presented at the "2006 (27th) Implementation of Energy Conserving Machinery Awards" by The Japan Machinery Federation.

The key characteristic of FNX Series is the adoption of the X-Pump System. This X-Pump System is a hybrid pump based on a new concept that combines the servomotor and hydraulic technologies as the driving source of the molding machine. By controlling the rotation of the servomotor, it provides driving power only when it is needed (it stops when it is not required).

When the energy consumption of a Hybrid FNX360 and conventional 360 ton hydraulic machine are compared as a proof of energy-saving (excluding the heater band electrical power), FNX360 consumes 55% less energy than hydraulic machines.

Moreover, the rise in hydraulic oil temperature can greatly be suppressed because of the X-Pump's excellent energy-efficiency; it also can reduce the amount of cooling water. As a result, reductions in cooling water equipments and its running cost are also possible.

In addition, the following improvements in performance have been made:
1. Injection response time is equivalent to that of high-response all-electric machines.
2. Stable control of injection speed made possible even in ultra-low speed range. The injection speed is approximately up to 1.5 times faster than that of hydraulic machines.
3. Since it is driven by a servomotor, it achieves almost the same low noise operation as all-electric machines.
4. Machine price is lower than all-electric molding machines.

Furthermore, the clamping mechanism uses the same direct clamping type as the highly-reputable hydraulic FN series, of which Nissei has sold over 10,000 units.
The major characteristics are:
1. An accurate clamping force is distributed more uniformly to the mold.
2. Lower (appropriate) setting of clamping force is easily possible, and this is effective in terms of saving energy, prolonging the life of the machine and molds, and taking measures in defects caused by de-gassing and short shots, etc.
3. Maintain clamping mechanism's parallelism for a long time.
4. Effective for thick molds (deep item molding, hot runners, three-plate...).
5. Shortening of mold change time for production of multiple small lots.

The Nissei original "TACT controller" functions as an interface between human and machine. It is equipped with a 12.1-inch color liquid crystal display and features a tilting mechanism that the viewing angle can be adjusted to match the height of the operator.

The main characteristics are:
1. Six languages are featured as standard - Japanese, Chinese, English, Korean, Thai and Spanish - and it can be switched to another with a simple touch. The machines can thus be utilized effectively on a global basis.
2. The "Operation History of 1,000 Item" display function is effective for monitoring remote plant productions.
3. Ladder programming function that has been opened to users. (Exchanging signals from simple auxiliary equipments is possible on the screen.)
4. LAN and USB connector are featured as standard.
5. Up to 300 sets of molding parameters can be stored in the internal memory.
6. Equipped with a high response, high resolution touch panel.

The release of these three mid-size machines expands Nissei's horizontal hybrid injection molding machine selections, ranging from the 405 kN (40 ton) "PNX40-2A" to the 3,540 kN (360 ton) "FNX360-140A": nine machine types and eighteen models.
