Hybrid and Electric Injection Machines Up for Exhibit at InterPlas Thailand
Nissei Plastic Industrial will exhibit two injection molding machines at InterPlas Thailand 2007, to be held on June 21 through 24 at Bangkok's BITEC: the hybrid PNX40 and the all-electric NEX50.
Outline of Exhibits
1. PNX40-5A Hybrid Injection Molding Machine
This machine is a 392-kN (40-ton) clamping force type from the PNX Series. At the show, molding of gear with four-cavity tool will be demonstrated, and energy savings on a par with electric machines and the benefits of natural filling will be promoted.
The main characteristic of Nissei's hybrid molding machine is adoption of the innovative X Pump system. This X Pump system combines servomotor drive technology and hydraulic drive technology as the driving source for the molding machine. It is a proprietary system totally different from conventional hybrid machines whereby through controlling the rotational speed of the servomotor, the motor provides driving power only when required (it stops when not required).
As a result, up to approximately 55% electricity savings are possible compared with Nissei's hydraulic machines. Furthermore, through improving energy efficiency greatly compared with conventional hydraulic machines, the hydraulic oil temperature rise can be limited, and it is thereby possible to reduce cooling water. Consequently, it is also possible to reduce cooling water equipment and running costs such as for cooling towers.
In addition, the following performance improvements have been realized.

Furthermore, the clamping mechanism adopted is the same direct clamping type that is employed in hydraulic FN (PN) series, of which Nissei has sold in excess of 10,000 units.

The dedicate TACT controller is a man-machine interface that employs a color liquid crystal display, complying of six languages, and features a tilt mechanism whereby the viewing angle can be changed to match the height of the operator.

2. NEX50-5E All-electric Injection Molding Machine
This machine is a 490-kN (50-ton) clamping force type from our company's mainstay NEX series. At the show, demonstration of bar flow test piece molding will be conducted, and the superiority of high precision metering control will be highlighted.
The main features of this series are automatic correction of clamping force and high precision metering control and those are standard features.
The function for automatic correction of clamping force was developed in order to realize a "direct-pressure-type toggle mechanism." Through utilization of expertise regarding direct-pressure clamping mechanisms, which Nissei has been particular about, accumulated over many years, the function enables use of a toggle clamping mechanism with a similar sensation to direct clamping.
The function allows automatic correction of clamping force in the toggle clamping mechanism that has changed as a result of temperature rises in the mold, etc., during automated or continuous operation of the molding machine and in addition, the clamping force can be changed during automated operation.
The features of the function are 1) clamping force can be varied during molding or setting of the molding parameters with a similar sensation to direct clamping, 2) continuous production can be shifted to before the tie bar shaft temperature becomes stable and product yields are improved, 3) the initial preciseness of the mold can be maintained because excess clamping force setting is not required, and 4) the mold protection function (low pressure clamping) has been significantly improved and detection of ultra-thin objects is possible.
Through incorporation of these functions, the performance of the "Flat Clamp" mold clamping mechanism, which is suitable for fast cycle precision molding, has been further improved.
High precision metering control is a means whereby selectable either "pre-pack" or "precision metering" control modes, which realize high precision metering during molding process.
Pre-pack enables control using a standard screw. Metering density and injection volumes are fixed, and the response of the non-return valve is stabilized. This is effective in cases of variations due to scrap material and lots. Effective for the appropriate clamping force production method and to reduce clamping force to the barest minimum.
Precision metering is effective in case of high-speed screw rotation during fast cycle molding, and it further stabilizes the metering stop position.
