Nissei exhibits two state-of-the-art injection molding machines at ASEANPLAS 2008
March 2008 [News Release]

Nissei Plastic Industrial is participating in the upcoming ASEANPLAS 2008 exhibition to be held in Singapore May 26 through 29 under the theme of "Proposals to Change Future Product Creation - Nanomaterials & Environmentally Harmonious Molding Machines." Nissei will bring two hybrid injection molding machines to the show that utilize its X Pump System, which combines the advantages of both electric and hydraulic drive. Also on display will be the company's VOLTIGA high performance composite material.

Outline of Machine Exhibits
1.ANX80-9A 80-tonne Clamping Force Machine
A new machine that pursues cost performance, while at the same time retaining the basic characteristics of the cornerstone FNX Series, developed for the China and ASEAN markets.
Through innovative hybrid control technology pioneered and cultivated by Nissei and adoption of a new type of controller, this high performance machine enables precision molding, while focusing solely on the required performance. At the show, the machine will mold laboratory dishes in a two-cavity tool.

2.PNX40-5A 40-tonne Clamping Force Machine
An updated model of the PNX Series, which was first debuted two years ago. With the addition of newly developed mold opening / closing stability control and molding support software, a significant improvement in performance has been realized.
On the show floor, electronic component transport trays will be molded from VOLTIGA.

3.VOLTIGA High Performance Composite Material
Prototype products from the nanomaterials business, which started up in September 2007 and is based on nanomaterial and resin composite technology as typified by carbon nanotubes (CNTs).
On the show floor, samples of molded products will be showcased, and a demonstration is scheduled to be carried out so that visitors to ASEANPLAS can understand conductive properties.

The key characteristic of Nissei's hybrid-type molding machines is the Hybrid X Pump System that adopts the innovative X Pump System. This Hybrid X Pump System combines servomotor drive technology and hydraulic drive technology as the driving source for the injection molding machine and it is totally different from standard hybrid systems. By controlling the rotation of the servomotor, the motor provides driving power only when required (it stops when not required).
As a result, up to an approximately 55% reduction in energy consumption is possible compared with Nissei hydraulic machines and furthermore, compared with conventional hydraulic machines, energy efficiency has been greatly improved and for this reason, the rise in the temperature of the hydraulic oil is suppressed and cooling water requirements are thereby reduced. As a result, reductions in cooling water facility (such as cooling towers) expenses as well as maintenance costs are possible.
In addition, the following performance improvements have been realized.
1. Injection ramp-up time features a high response on a par with all-electric machines.
2. Using fully closed loop control, stable control in the ultra-low speed range of 1 mm/s in injection speed is realized, and the maximum injection speed specification is 550 mm/s (PNX40-2A)
3. Through employing servomotor drive, almost the same low noise operation as all-electrics is achieved.
4. Machine pricing is lower than all-electric molding machines.

Furthermore, the clamping mechanism adopted is the same direct clamping type that is employed in the hydraulic FN (PN) series.
The major features are:
1. An accurate clamping force is distributed more uniformly to the mold.
2. Low (appropriate) setting of clamping force is easily possible, and this is effective in terms of saving energy, prolonging the life of the molding machine and molds, and countering defects caused by de-gassing and short shots, etc.
3. Long-term maintaining of clamping mechanism parallelism.
4. Effective for thick molds (deep item molding, hot runners, three plate).
5. Shortening of mold change time for production of multiple small lots.

Nissei's stand is located at 3F01.
