Nissei exhibits the most up-to-date electric molding machines at "K2004"

Nissei Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd. is going to exhibit, at "K2004" to be held from October 20th through the 27th in Dusseldorf, Germany, a total of 4 injection molding machines including a compact electric injection molding machine for micro molding use "ELJECT EP5 Real Mini" and 3 models of electric molding machines of the "ELJECT NEX Series" which have acquired a good reputation from customers since they were put on the market. With the introduction of the most advanced molding technologies corresponding to various types of applications, the company will also exhibit the most advanced quality and production control system.

It is the first public exhibition in Europe for all of the 4 models of molding machines to be exhibited at this time. With the keywords, "Development Concept Focusing on Production Site," the company will declare respective molding themes and make concrete proposals for solving various problems with which molding sites are confronting. The company will make the advantages of its machines well-known to all customers.

Outline of exhibiting machines
1. Compact electric injection molding machine "ELJECT EP5 Real Mini"
This machine is of an all electric type with a mold clamping force of 5 tons (49kN) developed for micro molding use.

At the exhibition hall, as a high-productivity micro molding system, this machine is mounted with an infrared mold monitoring device and demonstrates high-cycle 4-cavity molding of 80-pin connectors with 0.4 mm pitch in 3.4 seconds. It also confirms remnants of the product in a mold.
Features of the molding machine:
In the injection mechanism;
(1) In order to make micro molding of extremely small quantity possible, it is loaded with a dedicated injection unit of a center-driving system of which driving servomotor is directly connected with a ball-screw, and actualizes high injection start response of 0.03 second.
(2) By improving the screw and making its temperature control of the heating cylinder into 6 zones (four zones are normal for this class), it actualizes high precision temperature control. Also as for crystalline resins including liquid crystal polymers, precision plasticizing kneading becomes possible, and high-cycle molding of less than 4 seconds can be aimed for.
(3) By equipping a high performance nozzle, stringiness and drooling are prevented, in addition an appropriate nozzle for a category of resin can be selected.

In the mold clamping mechanism;
(1) A direct-pressure clamping system is used. Since it is capable of transmitting uniform mold clamping force to a mold, mold life is extended and stable precision molding becomes possible.
(2) It has a wide tie bar design which permits to mount a 150 mm x 150 mm mold only in this class.
(3) Linear guide ways are used both for a movable platen and a stationary platen. It is of a high precision structure, aiming to improve static (parallels, perpendiculars) and dynamic (stability at mold opening/closing) characteristics of the mold clamping system.

Furthermore, as an original molding support system, this molding machine is able to load mold monitoring equipment for which "infrared rays" are used for the first time in the industry. As the features of this system, different from conventional types, it is capable of high precision monitoring without the influence of turbulent light and detecting a black object not influenced by colors. Moreover it is low-priced.

2. Electric injection molding machine "ELJECT NEX Series"
From the electric injection molding machines "ELJECT NEX Series" which were put on the market in July of last year and have acquired a good reputation from customers, Nissei exhibits the three models; "NEX2000" with a mold clamping force of 110 tons (1080kN), "NEX4000" with 180 tons (1765kN) and "NEX500" with 50 tons (490kN).

At the exhibition hall, in keeping with the theme of "the molding of high quality products by means of the clamping force feedback control," the "NEX2000" machine molds one utility case set (case and cover) without sink marks and warpage by the molding with optimum clamping force (stable natural compression process).
The "NEX4000" machine with standard specifications, in keeping with the theme of "the improvement of durability of the injection unit in high-cycle molding," and using a newly developed "liquid lubrication type ball screw" for the injection shaft, demonstrates high-cycle molding of cups in six cavities in 3.5 seconds per one shot. It also publicizes high-durability of the injection shaft, low-vibration and low-noise operation.
Moreover in our company's booth, Taisei Plas Co., Ltd. demonstrates integral molding of aluminum and plastic, using the "NEX500" machine with a mold clamping force of 50 tons (490kN) which is highly evaluated in the small-sized precision parts molding.

The "NEX Series" has been developed as a useful molding machine for further pursuit of high productivity, reduction of defective moldings, mold protection and energy-saving, and also for solving various problems with which molding sites are confronted such as improvement of operatively and working environment.

The biggest feature of the "NEX Series" is the loading of an exclusive use controller "TACT" which has the fastest injection scanning time of 100 microseconds (1/10,000 second). Concretely, it reduces unevenness of injection pressure by 50%, which influences the precision of molded products, and its injection speed is raised up to 40% as compared with conventional machines. Moreover, by improving response and reproducibility of the injection process control and VP change, it displays its great force especially in high-speed molding. It is also equipped with versatile control programs ideal for molding as standard such as mold clamping compression control and in-mold processing control including holding pressure position control.

Main features in the mechanism;
(1) In addition to the standard and high-speed specifications, high-load specifications (optional) are newly prepared for the injection speed corresponding to optical thick-wall products and other products.
(2) It is mounted with a new high efficiency mold protection function. It actualizes the "ultra high-speed reaction workings" which instantly start mold opening action upon detecting foreign substances in a mold during mold clamping. It prevents a mold from breakage. Its foreign substance detection time is 0.013 second, a 1/10 of conventional machines.
(3) Its injection shaft, which is apt to get a load, is equipped with a newly developed "liquid lubrication type ball screw" (injection type of more than 36E), and actualizes the maintenance of the injection shaft precision and high-durability over a long period. Its durability is improved more than double of conventional machines.
(4) Electricity consumption is further reduced than conventional machines.
(5) It is equipped with a new mold clamping system "Flat Clamp" which is ideal for high-cycle molding and precision molding. Based on the structure analysis, and by means of a movable platen newly designed and a stationary platen supported at the center, it demonstrates uniform mold clamping force with less deflection.
(6) It is mounted with a simultaneous nozzle and heating cylinder temperature raising function for preventing the resin in a nozzle from carbonization and deterioration.
(7) The time from mold clamping to take-out of molded products (dry-cycle) is shortened by maximum 35% as against conventional machines.
(8) Machine vibration at mold opening/closing is decreased by 20% as compared with conventional machines.

The exclusive controller "TACT" is of a man-machine-interface type for which a 12.1 inch color liquid crystal screen (with a tilt-mechanism) is equipped. It is capable of setting a free screen angle to fit the height of an operator.
Main features of the functions:
(1) The 6 languages of Japanese, English, Chinese, Spanish, Korean and Thai are equipped as standard. They are easily switched by one-touch.
(2) A ladder programming function open for customers: It is capable of freely preparing simple interface programs with peripheral equipment on a molding machine screen.
(3) A compact flash (optional) is adopted as an external memory unit: In addition to the molding conditions and profile data, it is capable of taking in image data. It can also control molding conditions and sample images as one set. (The display on a TACT screen of a standard work document with images is possible)
(4) Reinforcement of quality control functions: By means of expansion and enrichment of molding monitoring items, it is capable of setting up the statistic results of molding-monitoring data as the checking conditions whether products are good or bad.
(5) A LAN connecter is equipped as standard: Connection with the quality and production control system becomes easy (adapter is unnecessary). It actualizes control systems at low price such as quality and production control, and molded product analysis.
(6) It is capable of memorizing internally up to 300 molding conditions.

3. "Quality and production control system PQ Manager"
It is a quality and production control system newly developed for applying to a variety of applications including the group control of quality and production information about maximum 30 injection molding machines, and the quality analysis for one molding machine.

At the exhibition hall, connecting the two exhibited machines, "NEX2000" and "NEX4000," with a laptop personal computer on the LAN, Nissei demonstrates monitoring of operation condition, monitor analysis, and profile analysis.

Main features are:
(1) By connecting a molding machine loaded with TACT and a laptop personal computer through one LAN cable, the change in injection profiles and monitor data of every shot can be freely analyzed in conjunction with the change in molding conditions and error events. Expensive measuring equipment is not necessary at all.
(2) LAN connection of multiple machines equipped with TACT and computers permits establishment of a group control system. Depending on the number of molding machines to be connected, a computer system can be flexibly composed.
(3) Not limited to our company's former models such as NC8000, centralized monitoring of other companies' models is possible (production monitoring function only).

Further, Nissei's cumulative total shipment number of injection molding machines exceeded 95,000 units. The company aims to achieve 100,000 units within the year 2005 for the first time in the industry.
